End of another year's 'School Daze'....
At the end of another fantastic year at Silverhill we say so long and farewell to our brilliant Year 6 pupils who now move on to pastures new. After working exceptionally hard and achieving brilliant SAT's results and putting on a super end of year performance of School Daze (watch the highlights here), the whole school lined the playground to clap the children out towards their parents. Well done Year 6 - you made us very proud, good bye and good luck to you all! Have a wonderful summer everyone!

Cycle Derby
Congratulations to all the Year 5 children who took part in their Level 2 bikeability training through Cycle Derby. Over the five days for one hour each day the children first had a safety check before a recap of level 1. The next three sessions took place on quiet roads near school with children learning which part of the road to ride in; how to pass parked cars; how to do a u-turn; the difference between minor and major roads; how to turn left and right into different kinds of roads. On the final day the children got to put it altogether in a series of more complex manoeuvres and a ride around the local area! The children will be presented with an orange Bikeability Level 2 badge and certificate.

Diggers on site!
It seems a long time coming but finally the building work has begun! Today lots of men in suits were onsite to make sure there is as little disruption as possible. The safety of pupils, staff and parents is the priority! The diggers moved in to begin clearing an area on the lower field ready for the 'construction compound' to be set up. Keep checking on on the school blog to watch how the build begins to take shape over the coming weeks and months!
Year 6 first aid training
As pupils from Reception to Year 5 moved up to meet their new teachers and classes today, the Year 6 pupils headed off to Mickleover Pavilion to complete a first aid training course. Any injuries on the playground this next week, we know where to come! Excellent work Year 6!

School Daze
This week saw our Year 6 pupils perform their 'School Daze' leaver's production. Set in 2075, the show follows Billy and Becky as they visit their Grandparents who begin reflecting on their old school days. With every member of Year 6 involved, and supported by a choir of Year 5, the children put on four superb performances to pupils, staff and parents. With some great acting and wonderful singing the children did an amazing job! Click through to the main blog to see photographs and video clips from the show.
