Year 1 visit All Saints Church

The Year 1 children had a wonderful time visiting ALL Saints church on Tuesday morning. We loved looking at the different features of christian churches including the font, lectern and pulpit. The children asked some really interesting questions and we were even lucky enough to hear the organ being played! Many thanks to all our parent helpers for coming with us!

Cycle club

This week saw then end of Cycle Club with our after school Cycle Derby club.

Year 3 gymnastics competition

On the 22nd January we saw some fantastic achievements for our Year 3 gymnasts. Both teams performed brilliantly with Silverhill Team A winning gold putting them through to the county finals in March and an individual silver for Maisie. Well done to everyone who took part.

Cosmic classroom

On 2nd February, Silverhill joined with half a million children across Britain to take part in the Cosmic Classroom.  A live link was made with Tim Peake, the British astronaut currently aboard the International Space Station.  The children watched a question and answer session and we were both amazed and amused by the facts Tim shared.

Year 5/6 football tournament

A fantastic well done to our Year 5 and 6 football team for playing so well in the Derby SSP and Derby County Community Trust indoor football tournament at Soccerdome. The first game saw Max score a hattrick in a 3-3 result in our 'local derby' against Mickleover. Despite a disappoiting few games against Walter Evans and Cherry Tree the boys kept their head high and came back with a final 9-0 win over Becket! Well done boys - great sports attitude! 

Fire service visit

On Wednesday 20th January our Year 2 and Year 6 pupils were visited by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue to remind them about the importance of fire safety. Pupils were taught the key messages of the role of the Fire Service, Fire safety hazards in the home, The importance of smoke alarms, Planning a safe escape plan and Hoax and Arson.
