Year 6 visit the National Arboreatum

As a part of their topic on 'The Great Wars', on Tuesday 18th October, Year 6 visited the National Arboretum. The children paid their respects to the fallen by in the daily service and walked through a World War 1 trench to understand more about what the soldiers experienced. Each pupil had the chance to paint their own 18" wooden soldier which will be placed in the ground as a lasting memorial to the 19,240 British soldiers killed on the first day of battle in WW1.

Year 2 intra sports

On Thursday 20th October, Year 2 enjoyed competing against each other in the first intra house sports competition of the school year.  They children all demonstrated excellent teamwork, PE skills and sportsmanship. Our results were: 4th place Ruby; 3rd place Diamond; 2nd place Emerald; 1st place Amethyst.

Applekin Food fair

Thank you to all the children, parents, staff and supporters who cooked up some diverse and delicious apple and pumpkin recipes for our Applekin food fair. The children created some wonderful carved pumpkin designs and the hall was full after school for people to taste some of the recipes. The proceeds raised from the event will be fed back into the school's food resources, including a polytunnel for our outdoor learning, as well as making a donation towards The Hope Centre.

Harvest 2016

Thank you so much to all the parents and carers who kindly donated dry food and tinned products for our harvest festival this year. In our harvest assembly this year the children sang some beautiful song and recited poems before all the goods were collected to be taken to The Hope Centre. We were informed by the staff that the donations enabled them to make food parcels to last three days of emergency food for those who are in need.
