Year 5 turn into Year 7 at Murray Park

On a glorious Tuesday this week, 59 children from year 5 trekked the short distance to one of our local secondary schools, Murray Park, for an enrichment day! Focused around giving the children a sample of what secondary school is like, and the sorts of lessons they will do, we spent the day pretending to be in Year 7! Each group went off and carried out four different lessons in classrooms all around the school! In French we learned how to make windmills, whilst in Art created pop up cards. During ICT the children got to play around in Scratch, before disappearing over to food technology to create a healthy cous cous (It was like a master chef competition) ! We even managed to fit in a murder investigation in History and a bit of music! Phew! A very busy but fantastically fun day! Everyone really enjoyed themselves (especially the very tasty lunch!), and came back laden with goodies and stories to share! A big thank you to Murray Park, the staff and their very organised prefects for looking after us all so well; we will be back!

On Wednesday 4th June both Year 1 classes went to Plantasia and had a great but very wet day! Their agenda included going through (or lost in....), a tree top walk, they also saw lots of animals including a very beautiful alpaca. They visited the indoor exhibition where they made bookmarks (and were very glad to be out of the rain!) All in all they had a fabulous day despite the weather!

Cricket Tournament

On Wednesday 4th of June Miss Nevin took eight of our Year 5 boys to attend a cricket tournament. Having lost one game and won one, they are now waiting for news about the city final.  Miss Nevin said they played extremely well and everybody here at Silverhill is VERY proud of them. Well done boys!!!
