Year 5 trip to Cadbury!
On Friday 11th March, year five ventured off to Bourneville in Birmingham to visit Cadbury World. Starting off deep in the heart of the Aztec Jungle, the children learnt all about the history of chocolate, and the build up of the Cadbury brothers' company! With a trip round the actual factory, a very sticky tasting session and a Bean to Bar talk, we came away with a really good understanding of the process of making Chocolate! We even got to visit the 4D cinema and go on a roller coaster of an adventure with the Mini Egg parrot! Snd, to top it all - free chocolate bars to bring home! A fabulous visit!

World Book Day
Silverhill certainly knows how to enjoy a dress up day! On Thursday 3rd March we all came to school as some of our favorite book characters to celebrate World Book Day and to show off our love of reading great texts! With the staff coming as our very own Duncan and his crayons from the wonderful 'The Day the Crayons Quit' by Oliver Jeffers, they started the day with a very colourful Take 10. Children came in some wonderful creations; from Elmer to an Umpa Lumpa and Mary Poppins to the Scarecrow the children made a fantastic effort. Thank you to all the mums, dads and families who helped with the costumes!

Authors visits
In conjunction with World Book Day, on Wednesday 3rd March Silverhill welcomed 2 wonderful children's authors to read, talk and inspire our pupils. Linda Chapman, author of Mr Monkey, spent the morning with our Key Stage 1 pupils while Andy Cope, author of Spy Dog, spent the afternoon with our Key Stage 2 pupils. Both authors share stories of being an author, giving out prizes and signing books. Such an inspiration for our budding readers and writers!
Reception in Space!
On Thursday 24th February, an astronomer visited Robins and Wrens and told us all about, planets, Tim Peake, space rockets and astronaut training.
We also used proper telescopes. Lots of Robins & Wrens would now like a career as an astronaut!
Mrs Turner
Year 4 at Lea Green
From February 24th-26th , the majority
of the children in Year 4 spent their residential visit at Lea Green Learning
and Development Centre. We had a brilliant
time, if a little cold, and took part in new and exciting activities. We were busy from morning until night and,
fortunately, the food was delicious and the beds were comfy! We learnt new skills, challenged ourselves
and everybody agreed that it had been a fantastic time and an exhilarating
adventure! Visit us on twitter to see more photographs from our adventure!
