Annual 'egg'stravaganza!

Well done to all the children who took part in our annual decorate an egg competition. As always, the ideas and creativity were fantastic and the standard was very high. A special congratulations to all our winners who received an easter egg each.

Foundation Stage visit the Farm

On the last day of term, FS2 went on a trip to Ash End House Children's Farm near Tamworth. We had a fantastic day meeting lots of different animals - we were able to hold tiny little chicks and collect our very own eggs to take home, as well as feeding oats to the goats (which was very funny!) and stroking the huge shire horses. We were lucky with the weather and were able to run off some energy in the playground (including the giant bouncy pillow!) before getting back on to the coach to come home. Our teachers were really proud of us as we were a credit to Silverhill!

Year 4 Norman day

On the 5th April, the Year 4’s were treated to a fun day enjoying lots of activities based on their topic, The Normans. During the morning, we were treated to a visit from Tom, our resident Norman expert. He gave us plenty of interesting information about the origins of names, the weapons used in battle and even some information about the diets of The Normans. We were even allowed to re-enact The Battle of Hastings on the field (foam weapons obviously!)
The battling was something Ethan really enjoyed!

In the afternoon, we carried on the fun with some Art and Drama activities in groups! It was great to gain lots more information and share what we already knew about our topic with the visitor! All of the costumes looked fabulous and it rounded off our topic beautifully!

Year 5 at Cadburys

On Tuesday 4th April Year 5 went on their trip to Cadbury's World! Surrounded by the delicious smell just in time for Easter, the children discovered the connection of chocolate to their current topic when they learned all about the Aztecs. They looked through the history of the development of chocolate and the chocolate making process. A superb learning experience and  a great day out!

Year 2 fun!

In the build up to the Easter holiday the pupils in year 2 were very busy. They welcomed their parents into class, so that they could look at all the splendid space vehicles that the children had created for their homework project.

They then greatly enjoyed themselves completing various measurement tasks, which included making cup cakes! Yum yum!

Year 4 visit Lea Green

Year 4  had a wonderful time at Lea Green, where we spent three days for our annual residential.  The weather was very kind to us and we all enjoyed spending most of our time outside.  The children through themselves into the activities, many of them trying something for the first time!  As always, the food was delicious and the beds were comfy.  We all returned tired but happy after our few days of adventure.  Next year is already booked!

Easter service

On Monday 3rd April, in three stages throughout the morning, the whole school walked to All Saints Churc in Mickleover village for an Easter church. Listening to the story of Easter from some fantastic reading by Archie, Raheem, Eloise, Reece, Abbey and Sriya, we also paid respects through prayer to other religions within our school.

The Big Pedal

Well done to Harriet (Sparrows) and Aamin ( Goldfinches) for super effort in blinging up their bikes and scooters. The standard was very high and therefore it was a difficult decision to make. Luckily I had the help of 2 school council members. Thank you to all the children that took part. What a super end to The BIG PEDAL!
