Megazone for Year 6



The end of term always means a day at Megazone for our Year 6 leavers so on Monday 24th July all 58 pupils headed off for a day of lazerquest and fun in the courts. Enjoying a delicious lunch of chicken nuggets, pizza and chips and a whole lot of running around, a great day was had by all! A fantastic treat for the end of Primary School!

Prize Giving 2017


Congratulations to all our fantastic award winners this year. A lovely assembly attended by all pupils, staff and parents, saw Oliver, Tom, Ethan, Victoria, Oliver, Chloie, Milly, Edie, Molly, Cavan, Charles and Karum collect awards for their effort, progress or attitude to their school work. For our Year 6 pupils, Carl was awarded the trophy for creative writing, the award for Spirit was awarded to Bella, whilst Reece received the Shield for effort and Josh was awarded the trophy for most improvement. Year 6 awards were also presented to Freddie for art, Eloise for citizenship, Shammar for athletic performance, Charlotte for sports girl and James for sports boy. The award for English was given to Holly and the award for Maths was given to Seb. Finally, Mrs Nash presented this year's Headteacher Award to Elliot. Many, many congratulations to all our winners. We are very proud of you all!

Attendance rewards

During our prize giving assembly we were delighted to present Freya and Mohammed with their brand new bikes, kindly donated by Halfords, Derby. Freya and Mohammed we the lucky pupils whose names were drawn from our attendance raffle where every pupil who achieved 100% attendance over a half term had their name put into the draw.

Year 2 Picnic


Year 2 had a fun day at the Vicarage Road Park with their class Bears.  They enjoyed team games and playing on the park.  Then they ate their yummy picnic that they had made themselves.

Aladdin Trouble

Congratulations to our fabulous cast of Year 6 pupils for performing three wonderful 'Aladdin Trouble' shows. The three performances to pupils, staff and parents were a comedy pantomime treat of spectacular of singing, dancing and acting with some superb talent on show. Cyclo County Finals

On July 17th Mrs Brundish was delighted to take our team of cyclocross champions to take part in the county finals. Competing in boys, girls, relay and mixed races the team put in another magnificent performance resulting an overall 6th position. A fantastic achievement team - we are all very proud of you!

Primary Athletics track and field

On Wednesday 12th July Mrs Brundish and Mr Turner took our Year 5 and 6 team to Moorways Stadium to compete in the Derby City SSP Primary Athletics. Competing in a wide range of events including long jump, 600m, 150m, howler and javelin, the girls had a fantastic day taking gold! The boys came 5th resulting in an overall placing of Silver! Well done team - a great achievement!

Independence Day Sports

On Tuesday 4th July, American Independence Day, our Year 5 pupils went to Moorways to take part in a range of sporting activities including dodge-ball, volleyball, extreme frizzbee and American Football. Despite it being very warm the children had a fantastic day trying lots of new sports.

Year 3 Monkeys

On Tuesday 4th July, Year 3 went to Trentham Monkey Forest.
We had lots of fun learning all about the Barbary Macaques and watching them in their natural habitat. We even saw a baby as young as 2 weeks old. Chris Evans from Radio 2 breakfast show was so impressed about the children doing something new, he even featured Ted on his show!

100% attendance

Many congratulations to our 37 pupils who have all achieved 100% attendance this year! During a special assembly all of these pupils were able to choose from a range of Disney themed prizes to reward them for their attendance. Well done children!

French Week

During week commencing 26th July, pupils across the school enjoyed a range of activities around all things French! From singing French songs and enjoying eating a French breakfast with friends to learning all about French landmarks and French artists and of course learning lots of new French vocabulary. The week ended with a super French cafe in the hall where parents and families were invited to share in our learning. Tres bien les enfants!

Year 2 visit

On Thursday 29th July, Year 2 enjoyed visiting the Sikh Gurdwara Temple and learning about the founder of Sikhism and their important symbols.  We were made to feel extremely welcome and enjoyed trying yummy food that the volunteers at the Temple had prepared and made.  What a super time we all had!
