Green Flag award success

Mrs Hall and Mrs Winfield are incredibly proud of all the children on the ECO committee who have worked so hard this year.  We are thrilled to announce that we have successfully renewed our Green Flag award! The school reps did a fantastic job showing our assessor around the school building and grounds and discussed with her the many things we do to help the environment.  Well done everybody!

Year 4 Romans

On Monday 22nd January, Year 3 were lucky enough to have a visitor from ancient Rome!! We learnt all about the clothes they wore and we particularly enjoyed learning about the armour. We had a toga dressing competition, and the girls won...twice!

Derby County Community Trust U11s tornament

Well done to our Year 5 and 6 football team who took part in the DCCT Under 11's competition at the Powerleague Soccerdome  on Thursday 18th January. We started really well with 2 wins against Derby High school and Redwood. We then faced Rolliston and Ashbourne and unfortunately lost both games. This meant we came 3rd in our group and did not go through to the quarter final stage. This was the first time that the boys had played together and they were absolutely superb. Mr Turner and Mrs Brundish were incredibly proud of every one of them . Special mentions go to Karum for a superb Captains performance and Harrison Pollard, who was chosen by Mr T and Mrs B as player of the tournament for his key role in each game.

PDSA visit

 Many thanks to the staff from the Derby PDSA for visiting all our pupils to talk to them about the importance of looking after their pets.

British Heart Foundation

As many of you know, our named charity this year is the British Heart Foundation, as several families in school have been helped through difficult times over the last few years by this very worthwhile charity. The collections after the Christmas performances as well as fundraising done during the Christmas fair have added up to an astounding £1,242!

Thank you so much for your generosity - this money will make a real difference. We hope that we can add to this total throughout the year so we will let you know about our next fundraiser very soon!
