Midsummer Night's Dream

On Monday 26th February, our Year 4 and 6 pupils were treated to a magnificent performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream by the Young Shakespeare Company. All the pupils were able to get involved in sound effects and acting with a few lucky pupils chosen to take on some of the main characters. The theatre company were truly awe inspiring and the children had a most entertaining afternoon. What a wonderful way to prepare for World Book Day and inspire a love of literature.

Electricity in Year 4

On Thursday 15th February Mr Doar, our Stem Ambassador, came into Year 4 to work with us on Electricity which is linked to our science topic. We looked at kinesthetic energy, created working circuits and used solar power. A great experience enjoyed by all!

ECO Ambassadors visit

On Wednesday 14th February our Silverhill ECO Ambassadors visited Foremarke Hall Preparatory School to visit the Design and Technology department. We took with us our designs for identification plaques to placed on the trees around our own school grounds. We Computer Aided Design software to recreated our drawings on the computer and then were amazed by the laser cut which bought our designs to life on wood. A big thank you to Mrs Hobson and Mr Davies for giving up some of their half term holiday to help us out.

A busy design technology week for Year 2

It's been a busy week in Kestrel's class as they have done lots of technology work.

With an English and Maths link, the children have been following instructions into make their own chocolate fridge cake and carefully measuring all their ingredients.

The children then designed and made their own vehicles, which they then tested and evaluated.  The photos show the winners from each table group and then our class winner. Well done all the Kestrels for their fantastic designs!

Year 6 Indoor Athletics

Well done to our Year 6 Sportshall Athletics team who competed in the annual Derby City School Sports Partnerhsip's Sportshall Athletics tournament at Derby Arena on Thursday 8th February. It was great to see our Silverhill Spirit in action as we competed in a variety of running, jumping and throwing events. Due to their being so many schools involved the event was split over a morning session and an afternoon session, so we have to wait for all the results to be gathered before we find out our overall finishing position.

Year 3 & 4 Gymnastic Competition

A big well done to our amazing Year 3 and 4 gymnasts who took part in the Derby City SSP gym competition on Thursday 1st Feb. We took 2 teams along and they all performed superbly thanks to their commitment to practising so much at home and learning their routines so well. A special mention to Team A for getting the Silver Team award!

Fitness is Fun Festival

On Wednesday 31st January Year 2 attended The Tennis Centre in Derby for the Derby City SSP Fitness is Fun Festival. The children had had great taking part in a wide range of fun activities including tag, alphabet fitness, relay races and even a few sit ups!

Adan Peaty Competition
