Postman visit in Foundation Stage

Wrens and Robins have been reading and learning all about The Jolly Postman by Allan Ahlberg. This week we were lucky enough to have a real life postman visit our classroom! Mr Bains told us all about his job: how the letters get sorted, why we have to put a stamp on, what happens to parcels if people are not in and what happens to letters for different countries. He also showed and told us about special postman equipment, including different coats for different weather, special grips for his shoes if it snows and a 'letter peg' which makes sure dogs don't bite his fingers through the letterboxes! The children were very keen to find out about life as a postman, although we decided that we wouldn't like to get up at 4.30am! Thank you Mr Bains for coming to visit FS2.
